The Interview

So. I had my efy interview today. I THINK it went well. I don't know... I tend to critique myself really hard after interviews and usually end up screaming in my car for about five minutes afterwards. (wow, did I just type that out? maybe I'll delete that later...) No, but aside from that fact that I felt like I maybe talked too much, it really did go okay. She asked me about my previous healthcare experience and so I talked about working in care centers and shadowing with clinics and getting certified in phlebotomy. She asked me what I thought about mental illness, since it's becoming more and more prevalent in the youth nowadays. So I talked about how mental illness is a very real thing, and how in my abnormal psychology class we learned that there are a lot of factors that contribute to mental illness. I said that it can be really hard for the people who experience that kind of challenge in their life. I talked about how working with mentally ill clients at my last job taught me the importance of understanding people and their mental conditions on an individual basis so that I could best help them.

She asked me about my leadership ability. About what I would bring to efy as a health counselor. About a spiritual experience I'd recently had. About an emergency I had handled in the past. About my willingness to learn from people with more health experience than I have. About my ability to work as a team member.

Oh, and she asked if I would be willing to travel (there are efy health teams set up across the US). And since she said there were only 32 spots and roughly 75-100 applicants, I thought I'd be flexible and say yes. Not really sure if I'm going to regret that decision or not yet...

Anyways, my interviewer said that they'd get back to me by the second week of February. So keep your fingers crossed, people, but try not to get your hopes up too much. As Tim Tebow once said, "I don't know what my future holds, but I know who holds my future."

Dodgeball

So. These boys rock at dodgeball. All y'alls should come see 'em in action some time. Remember... throw, dodge, WIN! :)

(Team NBTTF: no balls to the face)

Oh, and btw... got an interview with efy. Jan 23rd. I'll let you know how it goes (unless I'm sobbing in my room at their rejection or something. ^_-)

Hot Pots!

So. We went to the hot springs in Spanish Fork canyon last weekend. It was ridiculously awesome. And we miraculously avoided any and all nude mud-bathers that the information article on the place warned us about. Success!

We got some help finding the place from two scruffy looking old guys in camo driving a big Ford truck--made me feel like I was home:) And what a beautiful hike in... worth every second of the 30 minute hike up... and to think that I've driven past this gem for years! Thanks, Eric!
